Weekly Prayers

Talking with God about things that concern us is very important and He just loves it when we communicate with Him. This page serves as a reminder of what we have been praying about and are praying for. By reading these prayers you can add your thoughts to them and place them before our loving Father.

Remembrance Sunday's prayers were about saying 'Thanks, Please and Sorry' with a focus on Remembering.

Thank you was based on Psalm 77:1 " I will remember the deeds of the Lord, yes, I will remember your miracles"

Sorry was based on Psalm 25:7 - "Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways, according to your love remember me"

Please was based on Paul's thanks to the Corinthians for remembering him - 1 Cor 11:2 " I praise you for remembering me in everything" as we are encouraged to pray for and bless our church/connect/Christian family this week in all they do ( Gal 6:10).

Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
Almighty God, our Loving Heavenly Father, we worship You this morning.   You are the great Creator God, You made everything we see.   The birds that effortlessly fly in the sky.   The fish, whales, penguins and all that live in the sea.   The beautiful creation that surrounds us every day. The wonderful colours of Autumn.   The snow in the winter and the fresh spring blossom.   The beautiful flowers in the summer.   You made them all.   You made the heavens, billions of galaxies, each containing billions of stars, and we are told in the bible that You know each star by name.   What an amazing God You are, and we do truly worship You today.

Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
How we long for Your will to be done on earth.    We look at the death and destruction all around us, we long for wars to cease, for persecution to end, for Your rule to take over.   We see our world struggling and groaning, hurricanes, fires and earthquakes to name but a few things.    We see our own country struggling with Brexit.   Lord we pray for our government, we pray for Teresa May in particular, as she seeks to gain the best deals that she can for our country.   You have placed her as our Prime Minister.   Please will you give her the strength she needs to accomplish what she needs, wisdom to find the right way to take our country forward, and may she trust You to guide her to find the right path through all the political problems that are before her.    Lord we long for Your Kingdom to come, for Your return.

Give us today our daily bread.
We thank You Lord that we live in a land where there is no need for starvation.   We have plenty and more.   This year the grain harvest was not so good but we will not starve.   We remember the farmers who have, in some places, struggled to get the harvest in.    We have such a bountiful supply of fruit and vegetables, and our dairy products abound.   We thank you Lord.   But we are ever mindful of those in other countries to whom food is scarce or even non existent.   Lord will You move our hearts to help those who have little or nothing to eat.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Lord help us to be aware of when we sin.   To keep short accounts with You and forgive, truly forgive, those who sin against us.   To make sure that we ask for forgiveness of those we have wronged, in thought word and deed.   To freely forgive others, even as we have been freely forgiven. To pray for those who in any way seek to harm us, and remember that those who do seek to harm this country in any way, are often in the minority.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Lord help us to avoid temptation, and to fight it when it comes our way.   Fight it with Your Word, to stand up to the evil one, knowing we can stand firm on Your Word, and remembering that no temptation has overtaken us, except what is common to everyone, and You are  faithful;  You will not let us be tempted beyond what which we can bear.   But when we are tempted, You will also provide a way out so that we can endure it.   Thank you Father.

For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory for ever.   Amen
